The first part of setting up Remote Play for the PS5 is ensuring the console's settings will actually allow it to be used remotely. Recently though, I finally had a successful Remote Play session while away from my house, and I had a great experience with it. The feature doesn't just cast video from the laptop but optimizes the games for the screen and for different controllers and user interfaces. The only thing i did not like was that it remapped buttons for HZD which made it impossible to sprint.
How to set up and enable Remote Play for the PS5
When using PS3 Remote Play for the first time, a message informs you that it is necessary to register your system with the PS3™ system. Remote Play is a family of features that Steam started rolling out in 2019, to make it easier for gamers to play together and stream and cast their playthroughs. Remote Play Anywhere is one of these handy features but, like many of Steam's features, it's a little difficult to find and use if you aren't already familiar with it. When using an access point provided by a commercial or public Wi-Fi service, or by a private wireless network, set up your system so that it can connect to that access point.
You can use PS Remote Play to display the PS5 or PS4 screen on your phone. You can control your PS5 and PS4 with the on-screen controller. This will allow you to use remote play when your PS5 is in rest mode, but, remember, you can't use remote play if your PS5 is turned off.
Any Apple device running iOS 13 or later can play PS Remote Play games using the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller via Bluetooth or through on-screen controls. Devices running iOS 14.5 or later can play with a DualSense wireless controller via Bluetooth5. You can play PS Remote Play on a variety of devices, including your PS5 and PS4 consoles. It is necessary to have broadband internet with at least 5 megabits per second. When prompted, select your PS5 from the list of available consoles and wait for the two devices to be connected together. It's important to note that you must be logged into the correct PlayStation Network account on the PS5 for it to appear as a Remote Play option.

I hit a snag here and there where the connection would randomly drop after about 30 minutes or so. Even though the lag was barely noticeable, I still wouldn’t want to do any overly competitive gaming with it. Playing “Crucible” mode in Destiny, for example, would easily result in you going on a losing-spree. The lag was easily under 1 second, which is fine if you are playing something that doesn’t require lightning-fast reflexes. Overall though, I was extremely impressed with how well it worked.
While using Remote Play, you can send a wireless signal to your device from the console. From there, you can select the console you wish to play on and, as long as it's in rest mode or turned on, you'll be able to connect to it and remotely play a wide variety of games. Before you can use this feature, however, you need to ensure that you've correctly set up and enabled remote play on both your PS5 and whichever device you wish to use. To access and use Remote Play Anywhere, you need a Steam account on your primary computer.
As the name suggests, this app allows you to play your PS5 on any PS4 console, as long as the PS5 is correctly set up for Remote Play. You can also use your DualShock 4 controller, rather the PS5's DualSense controller. Sony recommends having a broadband connection that is at least 12Mbps and using a LAN cable for the best experience.
Click Steam in the upper left corner and select Settings from the menu. In the column menu on the left side of the new window that opens, select Remote Play. Within this menu, select PAIR STEAM LINK and enter the verification number displayed on the device that you want to pair.
You'll also need the free 21.5 MB Steam Link app on any mobile devices that you want to connect to your account. When Streaming Steam games to a mobile device, the chief advantage is storing games on Steam and streaming them to your device. This way, the single Steam Link app can take the place of any number of individual game applications taking up space on your device.
